by Matt Foust on Sunday, October 18th, 2009

Cleveland Browns vs Pittsburgh Steelers NFL Predictions, NFL Odds & NFL Picks: Bitter rivals Pittsburgh and Cleveland will face off today at Heinz Field in the Steel City. Fortunately for the Browns, they will not be attempting to get their first win of the season on Sunday having beat the Bills last week in Buffalo. The two AFC North foes will kick things off at 1:00 pm ET on CBS. NFL Predictions at Bookmaker.com have the Steelers listed as a -14 against the spread home favorite.Cleveland Browns vs Pittsburgh Steelers NFL Predictions, Odds & Picks

Browns Breakdown:

Overall Record 1-4
Division Record 0-2 (4th Place)
Road Record 1-2
ATS Record 2-3
Points per game (road) 5
Points per game allowed (road) 21.3

Key to the game: Defending the run or just defending period

The Browns are giving up a dreadful 170.4 yards per game to opposing ground attacks. Now the Steelers are no rushing juggernaut (100.4 rush yards per game) but Rashard Mendenhall has the pendulum swinging that way over the last two games. If they can make the Steelers one dimensional, than they have a much better chance of winning. However, Pittsburgh has already proven they can win without piling up a lot of rushing yards. But hey, Cleveland has to hang its hat on something, no matter how small the hook.

Steelers Breakdown:

Overall Record 3-2
Division Record 0-1 (3rd Place)
Home Record 2-0
ATS Record 1-4
Points per game (home) 25.5
Points per game allowed (home) 19

Key to the game: Injuries

Pittsburgh lost longtime defensive stalwart Aaron Smith (DE) for the season last week with a shoulder injury. Safety Troy Palamalu has been out since week one with a knee injury. Palamalu might return today but it is uncertain. About the only chance the Browns have of winning this game is if injuries limit the Steelers effectiveness.

NFL Predictions Betting Trend: Cleveland is 5-9 against the spread and 0-14 straight up over the last five seasons as an away dog coming off a win.
