NFL Week 7 Spreads 2011: The NFL Week 7 matchup between the (3-2) Washington Redskins [+2½] and the (1-4) Carolina Panthers [-2½] is a very interesting one. After losing the starting job, Rex Grossman will watch from the sidelines, as John Beck will make his first start in over fours years against one of the worst defenses in the league defending the run.
The key for a Redskins victory will not lie on Beck’s arm, but rather on Washington’s ability to exploit the Panthers’ defensive weakness. The running back duo of Tim Hightower and Ryan Torain has to be licking its chops looking forward to Sunday’s game. Mike Shanahan understands where the holes in the Panthers’ game are, and one can be sure he will hit those often and hard. If the Skins can run the ball effectively, this would make things easier for Beck and would assure an upset victory this Sunday on the road.
Another great game this week will be the one between AFC South rivals, (3-3) Houston Texans [+3] vs the NFL Odds favorite (3-2) Tennessee Titans [-3]. Although the Texans have lost two straight after a 3-1 start, this is still a very dangerous team that possesses the ability to beat anyone in this league.
Coming off back-to-back loses to Oakland and Baltimore should do very little to shake Houston’s confidence, especially against a team that has yet to find any consistency to its game. The Titans, who are coming off a bye week, were blown out by the same Steelers team the Texas dominated just a week prior. The Texans should keep this game close throughout and have a chance to win it at the end.
