St. Louis, after winning just three games the previous two years, garnered its third win of the season last week after
upsetting the Chargers 20-17 at the Edward Jones Dome. The Rams, which were a +8.5 against the spread home dog against San Diego, built a 17-3 first half lead after a 38 yard touchdown pass from Sam Bradford to fellow rookie Danario Alexander and a seven yard scoring run by Steven Jackson.
St. Louis' defense relinquished two second half touchdowns to the Chargers, but played a superb game overall, holding Philip Rivers and the typically potent San Diego offense to 287 total yards. The Rams finished the game with one interception, seven sacks, and nine quarterback hits.
Steve Spagnuolo's squad has yet to win a road game this season, falling 16-14 at Oakland in week two and 44-6 at Detroit two Sundays ago. Bradford has thrown two of his seven touchdowns and three of his eight interceptions outside St. Louis.
Tampa Bay, another surprise team, saw its record fall to 3-2 last Sunday as the Saints came into Raymond James Stadium and secured a 31-6 win. The loss was similar to the 38-13 beating the Steelers levied on the Bucs in week three with the home team producing 277 total yards.
Quarterback Josh Freeman threw 43 passes as Tampa Bay tried to dig out of 24-0 hole, but he completed just 25 on them for 219 yards and one touchdown. The Buccaneers rushing attack fared even worse, amassing just 42 yards on 18 carries.
Tampa Bay's defense, which ranks 26th in the league in yards per game allowed (367.6), experienced the full wrath of the New Orleans offense as the Saints racked up 27 first downs and 475 yards in the route.
The Bucs are 1-2 at Raymond James this season with their lone home win coming in week one against the Browns (17-14).
NFL Picks Betting Trend: The Rams are 0-10 straight up (4-6 against the spread) in their last 10 games as road dog with a total between 37 and 41.
