Washington Redskins vs Chicago Bears 2010 NFL Picks, Predictions & Odds

by Matt Foust on Sunday, October 24th, 2010

Washington Redskins vs Chicago Bears 2010 NFL Picks, 2010 NFL Predictions & 2010 NFL Odds: The Chicago Bears will host the Washington Redskins today in an NFC North versus East skirmish at Soldier Field. The game is scheduled to kickoff at 1:00pm on FOX. 2010 NFL Picks, Predictions & Odds at online bookmaker SBGglobal.com have the Bears listed as a -3 against the spread home favorite and the game total set at 40.

Washington comes into this game with a 3-3 record and a game behind co-NFC East leaders New York and Philadelphia. Washington Redskins vs Chicago Bears 2010 NFL Picks, Predictions & OddsWhile the Redskins current tally would suggest they have every opportunity to catch the Giants and Eagles, their sporadic play says otherwise.

Last Sunday night Washington proved it is still a step behind the league's upper echelon teams, which includes both the G-Men and Eagles at this juncture. The Redskins narrowly covered the 3.5 point spread, falling 24-17 to the Colts at FedEX Field, but they were outclassed in almost every regard by the defending AFC Champions.

The Colts, despite three lost fumbles, posted 469 total yards and 22 first downs. Even more demoralizing for the 'Skins defense, though, was the fact that the pass happy ponies cranked out 170 rush yards on just 29 carries.

Washington's offense failed to keep pace, accounting for 335 yards as Donovan McNabb threw for 246 yards, one touchdown, and two picks on 45 pass attempts. Running back Ryan Torain, filling in for the injured Clinton Portis, was a bright spot, though, rushing for 100 yards and two scores on 20 carries.

Like Washington, Chicago's play would suggest its current division standing is tenuous at best. The Bears are presently the top dog in the NFC North with a 4-2 record; however, they appear no better, at least on the field, than the struggling Packers and the underachieving Vikings.

Chicago's make-shift castle deteriorated even further last Sunday as it lost for the second time in the last three weeks, falling at home 20-23 to Seattle. The glaring culprit in the setback, as it was in the team's 17-3 loss to the Giants, was an offense that produced just 307 yards and converted zero of its 12 third down opportunities.

Jay Cutler, who sat out the previous week with a concussion, completed 17-of-39 passes for 290 yards; he was also sacked six times, bringing Chicago's sacks allowed total to a staggering 27 (on pace for 72).

The Bears defense, which spent 34:23 on the field, yielded 353 yards to the Seahawks in defeat. Chicago did limit Seattle's ground game to 111 yards on 31 carries, but Matt Hasselbeck and company converted both times they entered the red zone.

Chicago is 2-1 at Soldier Field this season, where it posted wins over NFC North rivals Detroit and Green Bay.

NFL Picks Betting Trend: The Bears are 2-8 straight up and 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 games against the Redskins.
