NFL Week 8 Point Spreads 2011: Now that we have reached the midway point of the 2011 season, it’s time for the pretenders to begin sinking, while the contenders make their push for the playoffs. Things still appear to be wide open in the National Football Conference’s East Division, as the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Washington Redskins and even the Philadelphia Eagles all have a chance to make it to the NFL postseason.

NFL Week 8 Point Spreads 2011This week, a game with huge NFC East implications will be taking place at Lincoln Financial Field. Looking to begin ascending to the top of the division, the (2-4) Philadelphia Eagles [-3½] will host the NFL Point Spreads underdogs, (3-3) Dallas Cowboys [+3½]. This Sunday Night game has an opening kickoff slated for 8:20 PM ET and it’ll be broadcasted live on NBC Sports.

After a disastrous start to their season, the Eagles were able to go into their bye week on a positive note. Sitting at the cellar of the division, Philly went into the nation’s capital and defeated the then-division leading Skins, a loss that eventually would cost Rex Grossman the starting job. For the Cowboys, Jason Garrett employed a run-oriented gameplan that proved to be very effective last week against the winless St. Louis Rams. Keeping Tony Romo on a short leash, Garrett called to rookie running back, DeMarco Murray, and boy did he respond.

Breaking the franchise’s single-game record, Murray rushed for 253 yards, the ninth most ever in league history and the second most by a first-year player. His efforts were instrumental in getting the Cowboys a much needed, 34-7 win.

“I never thought in a million years that I’d ever have a day like this,” Murray said after the game. “This is what I’ve been working hard for since my Pop Warner days.”
