2011 NFL Point Spreads Week 8: Out of all the games going on this week, the one NFL Odds makers have been the most hesitant in disclosing its NFL Point Spreads, has been the Week 8 game between the (4-2) Detroit Lions [-3] and the (2-4) Denver Broncos [+3]. The reason for the delay is the health status of starting Lions quarterback, Matthew Stafford, who’s nursing a sprained right ankle.
After holding off almost the entire week, NFL Point Spreads experts believe that the Lions will beat the Broncos at Sports Authority Field at Mile High despite the possibility of Stafford not being at 100 percent. This game gets underway on Sunday afternoon at 4:05 PM ET on FOX. Get $50 in Free NFL Picks here!
After walking with a boot all week long, Stafford was finally able to practice for the first time on Thursday. Taking a few snaps with the first team, Lions fans can expect him to be out there against the Broncos defense. Despite having limited practice, his teammates sounded awfully optimistic when speaking to reporters.
“He looked good. Whipping the ball around,” said wide receiver Nate Burleson. “I don’t really know the diagnosis; I don’t even know how bad it is. All I know is he was out there today, throwing the ball around. If he’s able to play, we’re going to be a good team. If Shaun (Hill)’s out there, we’re going to be a good team.”
Not only has Detroit lost two in a row after a perfect 5-0 start, but Lions players have also gotten plenty of negative attention this week after being accused of being “dirty”. After beating the Lions at home, 23-16, Falcons players went public about the Lions dirty antics on the field.
According to reports, Atlanta players were livid about Lions defensive lineman, Ndamukong Suh and Cliff Avril’s alleged taunting of Falcons QB Matt Ryan. While rolling around on the ground in pain after one of his teammates accidentally stepped on his ankle, it is said that Suh and Avril made fun of the signal-caller’s injury. This week, Suh did very little to discredit those allegations.
“To me it’s karma for all the bad stuff they’ve done in the past,” Suh said. “Their offensive lineman hurt their own quarterback.”
