Houston Texans vs Buffalo Bills NFL Week 8 Predictions

The Texans (4-3) beat San Francisco 24-21 at home in Week 7 and now sit second in the AFC South. QB Matt Schaub made 20 of 30 passes for 264 yards with two TD passes; overall he’s thrown for 2,074 yards with 16 TD passes and five interceptions for a 104.4 passer rating. RB Steve Slayton had 18 carries for 67 yards with a TD and also made four catches for 22 yards with a TD. TE Owen Daniels made seven catches for 123 yards with a TD. Jairus Byrd has been a revelation over the past three weeks. He has five interceptions and has helped stabilize a secondary weakened by injuries. The Bills tenth ranked pass defense will get his toughest test yet against the Texans' top-ranked passing offense. Fourth-year TE Owen Daniels has improved every season and he has risen to the ranks of the elite at his position in 2009. He leads all tight ends with 39 catches, 497 yards and five touchdowns and could be a matchup nightmare for a Bills team that has struggled with tight ends all season. The Texans offense is ranked 10th overall with a third ranked passing game and 30th ranked running game. On defense they are ranked 21st with an 18th ranked pass defense and 21st ranked rush defense. The Texans average 23.9ppg and give up 22.6ppg, while they average 27.7ppg on the road and allow 25.3ppg. They are 3-3-1 ATS and 3-4 over/under.

The Bills (3-4) won in Carolina 20-9 in Week 7 and sit third in the AFC East. Backup QB Ryan Fitzpatrick made 11 of 22 passes for 123 yards with a TD pass; overall he’s thrown for 239 yards with two TD passes and an interception in two games. QB Trent Edwards suffered a concussion in Week 6’s win over the New York Jets and is out indefinitely with a concussion . RB Marshawn Lynch had 17 carries for 40 yards with a TD, while WR Lee Evans made five catches for 75 yards with a TD. WR Terrell Owens made three catches for 27 yards. The Bills picked off three interceptions and got two sacks against the Panthers. For the second straight season, career backup QB Fitzpatrick finds himself thrust into the starting quarterback role. Last year, while in Cincinnati, he started 12 games in place of an injured Carson Palmer and threw for 1,905 yards with eight TD passes and nine interceptions for a 70 passer rating. The Bills offense is 27th overall with a 28th ranked passing game and 15th ranked running game. On defense they are ranked 27th with a 10th ranked pass defense and 32nd ranked rush defense. The Bills average 16.1ppg and give up 19.7ppg, while averaging 14.3ppg at home and allow 17.7ppg. They are 4-3 ATS and 3-4 over/under.
