Detroit (5-2, 3-0 V) lost to Atlanta 16-23, at home, in Week 7. QB Matt Stafford was 15 of 32 for 183 yards and a touchdown against consistent pressure, getting sacked three times and hurried after several more snaps. He was injured towards the end of the game and suffered an injured right ankle. Detroit RB's Maurice Morris and Keiland Williams combined for 94 yards on 18 carries, filling in for Jahvid Best, who was out with a concussion.

Detroit QB Matthew Stafford was able to practice Wednesday on his injured right ankle, although backup Shaun Hill took some snaps with the first team. "It feels OK. It's sore obviously, but it's made progress since Sunday," Stafford said. "If I'm healthy enough to play, I'm going to try to be out there. It's yet to be seen if I can get to that point, but if I can, then I want to play." Hill threw for 2,686 yards in 11 games last season, filling in for Stafford. The Lions went 6-10 but won their last four games with Hill and Drew Stanton playing quarterback. It was Hill's first season with Detroit. If Stafford is able to play, it will be an NFL version of college football's big Georgia-Florida matchup, which also is this weekend. Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow was a star at Florida. He split games against Stafford and Georgia in 2007 and 2008. Denver's one home-field advantage is altitude. You combine altitude and attitude on offense, and the defense can't respond. Players on visiting teams have admitted so many times they get worn down in Denver. They're not used to playing at altitude, and they're not trained to play at altitude, and you can't adjust in one day to altitude.

Denver (2-4, 1-2 H) got an improbable 18-15 (OT), road victory, over the stunned Miami Dolphins, in Week 7. The Broncos appeared beaten when they trailed 15-0 with 5:23 left and took over at their 20-yard line. At that point, QB Tim Tebow was 4-of-14 passing for 40 yards. But Tebow led TD drives of 80 and 56 yards, sandwiched around a successful onside kick, and he scored a two-point conversion standing up with 17 seconds left to tie the score. In overtime, Denver's D.J. Williams sacked Miami quarterback Matt Moore to force a fumble and recovered it at the Dolphins' 36. Three plays later, Prater hit the winning field goal.

Starting in the NFL isn't new for Tebow, even though it looked that early last week. Tebow started the last three games last season, passing for 654 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions. He also rushed for 227 yards and six touchdowns. "Any quarterback that can extend the play and make something happen in those type of scramble situations presents big problems for the back end," Lions cornerback Eric Wright said. "From there it's just street ball football where the wide receivers break off their routes all different ways." That uncanny ability isn't lost on the Lions defensive line, either. "You look at what he's done, not only last week, but over his career, and he's dangerous when he pulls the ball down and runs with it," Lions defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch said. "We, especially up front, have a challenge where we need to collapse the pocket and get guys around him and stay alive in the rush because he can run anywhere on the football field."
