Week 8 NFL Predictions 2011: There are so many games in Week 8 with the potential to become upsets that it’s not even funny. Now, by upset I don’t just mean that the underdog team will beat the opposition, but rather beat the NFL Point Spreads assigned to them in Week 8 by NFL Betting Odds makers. There are six games slated on the Week 8, 1 PM slot and five on the 4 PM, beginning with the matchup between the (0-6) Miami Dolphins [+10] and the (4-2) New York Giants [-10] at the Meadowlands. To suggest that Tony Sparano’s team will go into MetLife Stadium and come away with a victory over the G-Men would be outright delirious.
However, it doesn’t seem that crazy to me that the Fins can avoid losing this game by less than 10 points. This becomes an even more realistic proposition when you’ve followed the Giants as closely as I have this season. Despite having a good record and leading the division, the G-Men have been very inconsistently, week-in and week-out. It wouldn’t surprise me at all to see them play down to the level of their competition like they’ve done all season long.
A 4 PM matchup with great upset potential is the Week 8 game between the (5-2) Detroit Lions [-3] and the (2-4) Denver Broncos [+3]. Not only is Matthew Stafford’s status for this game uncertain, but the fact that the Lions have stunk at defending the run plays right into Tim Tebow’s strengths. I definitely see the Broncos making a game out of this, and I certainly see Tebow having a much better showing than he did last week in South Florida.
