The Raiders, while certainly no juggernaut, are probably a worse matchup for Denver than this week's opponent, the Forty Niners. San Francisco, despite having one of the league's better backs in Frank Gore, has not been a consistent running team. Mike Singletary's squad currently ranks 27th in the league in rush yards per game at 92.3.
The Broncos pouros rush defense may be their magic elixir, though, as the Ponies are yielding an average of 156.3 yards per game on the ground (30th in the league). That number was certainly bloated due to the Raiders 328 yard afternoon, however, Denver has had trouble slowing the run all season.
On offense, Broncos head man Josh McDaniels will, no doubt, attack San Francisco where he has every other opponent, through the air. The Forty Niners are not derelict defending the pass, ranking 15th in the league in pass yards per game allowed (215.7), but it is not their strong suit either.
San Fran's 7.1 yards per pass allowed is the 12th worst tally in the league, and indicates that Kyle Orton and the Broncos stable of quality receivers will have every opportunity to move the ball up top.
