NFL Odds Week 9

by Alexander Banks on Thursday, November 3rd, 2011

NFL Odds Week 9: It’s crazy to me how this league works! A couple of weeks ago, everyone was ready to crown the Pats as the AFC champs and give Tom Brady the MVP trophy. After one loss, everyone is now talking about how much Brady was to blame for the loss to Pittsburgh and how much the Patriots stink…

The Pats’ inability to run the football was one of the big reasons why they couldn’t match the Pittsburgh Steelers’ physical nature. The biggest criticism of Brady & Co. this week is calling the Patriots a finesse team rather than a power one. Get $50 in Free NFL Picks here!

This week, the (5-2) New England Patriots [-8½] will try to break their tie with Buffalo atop the AFC East, as they welcome the team that ended their perfect season a few years back, the (5-2) New York Giants [+8½]. This game is scheduled to get underway this Sunday afternoon beginning at 4 PM ET from Gillette Stadium in Foxborough.

“I think you can definitely be a power team while throwing the ball,” Brady said. “The Steelers threw it 50 times last week but they’re a physical team? If you are a finesse team you won’t last very long. We’re trying to be a physical team.”

The funniest part of it all is that the last time this team was called finesse, was when Oakland Raiders linebacker, Rolando McClain used the term before their teams met in week 4. What was the result? The Patriots went into Oakland, rushed for 183 yards and came away with a dominating 31-19 victory.
