St.Louis (1-6, 0-3 V) upset the New Orleans Saints 31-21, at home, in Week 8 for their first win of the season. QB A.J. Feeley made his second straight start in place of Sam Bradford (high left ankle sprain), and threw his first touchdown pass of the season in a mistake-free outing. RB Steven Jackson had 159 yards on 25 carries. The win for the Rams came two days after the St. Louis Cardinals won the World Series. Manager Tony La Russa and several of his players showed up Sunday to support the football team.

There is reason for optimism in St. Louis with hope that QB Sam Bradford (ankle) could suit up Sunday at Arizona. Bradford has watched from the bench the past two weeks as A.J. Feeley led the offense with mixed results. So far this reason, the Rams’ offense has been anything but formidable, yet this week’s matchup against the Cardinals is an advantageous one. Arizona is football’s fifth-worst team when it comes to stopping both opposing quarterbacks and wide receivers. If Bradford is taking live snaps this week, it would also be his first chance to work with WR Brandon Lloyd. Regardless of who’s under center, Lloyd is a quality No. 3 receiver.

Arizona (1-6, 1-2 H) lost to the Baltimore Ravens 27-30, on the road, in Week 8. QB Kevin Kolb threw for 153 yards and a touchdown, and Peterson became the eighth player in Cardinals history to have at least two punt returns for touchdowns in a single season. The Cardinals defense allowed the Ravens to rally from a 21-point deficit. The loss dropped Arizona into a last-place tie with St. Louis in the NFC West.

Kevin Kolb said his injured right toe feels "a lot better," and neither he nor Arizona Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt would rule him out of Sunday's game, although a league source said the team doesn't expect the quarterback to play. "He's still got a little ways to go, but we'll see," Whisenhunt said of Kolb. "It comes down to whether he can push off and run on it, and that's going to be a function of the next couple of days." John Skelton, a fifth-round draft pick out of Fordham, went 2-2 as a rookie starter late last season. "Kevin's working to get healthy. He's doing everything he can," Skelton said. "Those things are just frustrating. I've had them before. We'll see what happens later in the week. As of now, I'm preparing like I am the starter, but that's the job of any backup quarterback."
