Today's game may look like a throwback to the 1960's, or at least the 1990's, as these two old AFL 
rivals look to assert their dominance in the AFC West. The Chiefs presently own the top spot in the division with a 5-2 record, but the Raiders, at 4-4 with wins over Denver and San Diego in the bag, could make things extremely uncomfortable for KC with a win this afternoon.
Oakland has looked unstoppable the past two weekends, blasting Denver 59-14 and Seattle 33-3. The Raiders produced a jaw dropping 1090 yards in the two wins, of which 567 came on the ground (Darren McFadden 276 yards, three touchdowns). Oakland's rushing, which has been solid all season, now ranks second in the league after the tremendous production over the past two weekends.
Jason Campbell, filling in for the injured Bruce Gradkowski, was also impressive in the two victories, completing 27-of-47 passes for 514 yards and four touchdowns. He will make his fourth start of the season today.
Kansas City, which barely escaped the winless Bills at Arrowhead last Sunday, will come into this afternoon's slugfest with a similar game plan to Oakland's. Run the ball and stop the run.
The Chiefs have been effective at both this season, ranking first in the league in rush yards per game (an astonishing 190.4 yards per contest) and seventh in the league defending the rush (96.4 rush yards per game allowed).
It is no secret that Todd Haley will employ the use of Thomas Jones and the dynamic Jamaal Charles early and often, and, if the recent past is any inidication, they will have success. Charles is averaging 95.1 yards per game on an average of 14.7 attempts per game (6.5 yards per carry).
The Raiders give up an average of 127.4 yards per game on the ground and it is unlikley that they will find themselves with a big lead like they did against the Broncos and Seahawks. The Chiefs have not been in a position this season where they were unable able to execute their run first approach. That should help slow Oakland's explosive pass rush and give Matt Cassel a valuable play action weapon in the passing game.
Two other factors also make this a good spot for Kansas City. Oakland cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha is doubtful with a sprained ankle, which means Dwayne Bowe, KC's only real deep receiving threat, will not be totally neutralized. History weighs in here as well. Kansas City has been unphased by the Black Hole of late as the Chiefs have won seven straight at Oakland (five of those as a dog) and they have covered the spread in eight of their last 10 meetings with the Raiders.
NFL Picks Betting Trend: The Raiders are 2-8 straight up and against the spread in their last 10 games as a home favorite versus an AFC West foe with a spread between 0 and 3.5.
