On the surface this appears to be a mismatch, a walkover game in favor of the Patriots; however, despite their 2-5 record,

The combined record of the Browns first seven foes adds up to a staggering 32-16, yet they have remained competitive through a plethora of injuries. Cleveland is not without its flaws, though. The Browns offense occasionally runs the ball well, using the bruisng Peyton Hillis to wear down opposing fronts, and when Seneca Wallace was under center, the team had a few nice moments throwing the ball (19th rushing 101.1, 23rd passing 190.9 – six touchdowns, eight interceptions). That said, Cleveland is lacking real production in both areas.
The Browns offense frequently leaves the defense exposed too long and that is not a good thing against the Patriots dynamic offense. No, this year's 6-1 Pats are not anywhere near as explosive as the 2007 team; however, they are highly efficient, cranking out a league best 29.3 points per game on 330.3 yards per contest (19th).
Tom Brady, who possesses the fifth best passer rating in the NFL (96.6), has thrown 12 touchdowns to four interceptions and he is completing 65.3 percent of his passes (6th in the league). If he has time to throw the ball today, which is likely given that the Browns have produced just 13 sacks all season, it could be a long afternoon for a Cleveland team that is giving up 244.1 yards per game through the air (26th).
While the Browns four turnover, two defensive touchdown, playbook emptying 30-17 win at New Orleans was impressive, it did not provide the them a weekly formula for success. Expect the Patriots to be ready for anything and everything and, perhaps, to have few tricks up their own sleeve this afternoon.
