Week 9 NFL PicksHow did the New Orleans Saints and the Carolina Panthers do in NFL Week 8 action? The Saints played the Steelers last Sunday night at the Superdome. The Saints came up with a big win, 20-10 over the Steelers. Drew Brees took a pounding early in the game and also threw for an interception. But he connected for 20 out of 22 passes in the second half, which also included 2 fourth quarter touchdowns. This lifted the Saints to their victory. Brees finished with 305 yards, going 34 of 44 with two touchdowns. The Saints couldn’t score a touchdown in the first 3 quarters of the game. Up until the 4th quarter, their only points were two field goals. His first touchdown went to Marques Colston for 16 yards. Then with 2:37 left on the clock, Brees connected with Lance Moore for an 8 yard pass. It was an exciting 4th quarter for fans, especially after their embarrassing loss to Cleveland the week before.

On a side note, a representative from the Guinness Book of World Records attended the game at the Superdome, and counted 17,777 fan wearing costumes for Halloween. (Really? He counted them all by himself? Whew!)  This become a record for a game with the largest recorded Halloween gathering.

The Carolina Panthers went into Week 8 with a record of 1-5. They left the game with a record of 1-6. Thanks to the St. Louis Rams. Final score, Rams 20, Panthers 10. Matt Moore was 23 of 27 for 194 yards. He had three interceptions for the day. One of them, as well as a fumble by Steve Smith, led to 10 points for the Rams in the 4th quarter. The Panthers barely squeaked out 201 total yards for the day. They were missing running back and Pro Bowler, DeAngelo Williams, due to a foot injury. Jonathan Stewart replaced Williams, and carried the ball 14 times for 30 yards.  The Panthers rushed 17 times for 25 yards.
