Washington Redskins vs Miami Dolphins Spread NFL Picks Week 10

by Scott Burgess on Thursday, November 10th, 2011

Washington Redskins vs Miami Dolphins Spread NFL Picks Week 10: The Miami Dolphins got their first win last week and they look for their second as they host the Washington Redskins, Sunday Nov 13th. The Redskins won their last meeting 16-13 (OT), at home, in 2007. NFL oddsmakers have the Dolphins as -3.5 point home favorites over the Redskins with the over/under set at 37.5 points. Washington (3-5, 1-3 V) lost to San Francisco 49ers 11-19, on the road, in Week 9. QB Josh Beck completed 30 of 47 passes for 254 yards with one touchdown and one interception, but 116 yards came in the fourth quarter during desperation catch-up time. Beck — now 0-7 as an NFL starter — will remain the quarterback despite another game in which he regularly failed to spot open receivers. Washington got its only points on Graham Gano's franchise-record 59-yard field goal on the last play of the first half and a touchdown pass to Jabar Gaffney with 1:10 remaining.

Head coach Mike Shanahan should insert Rex Grossman back into the starting lineup this Sunday against the Dolphins. The Redskins are mired in a four-game losing streak that began with Grossman's four-interception performance against the Philadelphia Eagles. Prior to that game, Grossman had been playing well.  Shanahan may have acted too hastily when relegating him to the bench. Grossman's nine interceptions were a legitimate cause for concern.  But the offense has been inept since Beck took over. The Skins have averaged 10.3 points per-game in their last three, while their defense has given up 25 points in those three. Grossman has 1,132 yards passing with six touchdowns, but nine interceptions for a 66.5 passer rating. Beck has 858 yards passing with two touchdowns with four interceptions for a 72.1 passer rating.

Miami (1-7, 0-3 H) won their first game of the season in a big way, a 31-3 road win over the Kansas City Chiefs, in Week 9. QB Matt Moore threw for 244 yards with three touchdown passes. RB Reggie Bush had 92 yards rushing and a touchdown, while two of them went to TE Anthony Fasano and another to Brandon Marshall, who finished with eight catches for 106 yards.

It already is tempting to rationalize that three blown-lead-losses/should-a-been-wins mean Miami “should” be 4-4 right now. In every game but one, the Dolphins have been competitive deep into the second half. Now Miami is favored this coming Sunday at home against. Washington, with an upcoming schedule suggesting the Dolphins reasonably could win three of their next four games. CB Vonte Davis will play in Week 10, if healthy. Davis has played in four games this season, battling a hamstring injury on and off. He missed the Dolphins' first win of the season for non-injury reasons after he appeared as questionable on the team's Friday injury report. Marshall had eight catches for 106 yards and one touchdown against the Chiefs.
