The Jaguars (4-4) beat Kansas City 24-21 at home in Week 9 and now sit third in the AFC South. QB David Garrard made 18 of 27 passes for 264 yards with one TD pass; overall he’s thrown for 1,867 yards with six TD passes and five interceptions for a 81.8 passer rating. RB Maurice Jones-Drew had 29 carries for 97 yards with a TD, while RB Rashad Jennings pounded in a TD run. WR Mike Sims-Walker made six catches for 147 yards with a TD. The Jags accumulated 173 yards rushing and made 1 of 2 in the red zone. In four road games this year, QB Garrard has yet to throw a touchdown and has tossed two interceptions . Not surprisingly, Jacksonville has lost three of those four games. If the Jaguars expect to go into the Meadowlands and emerge victorious, they will need Garrard to play more like he does at home (six TDs, three interceptions). When Garrard has a 100-plus rating as a starter, the Jaguars are 15-4 SU. The Jags offense currently ranks ninth with a 16th ranked pass game and the sixth best running game in the league. The Jaguars have the league's lowest sack total this year, having taken down opposing QB’s just eight times. The team has invested several high draft picks on pass rushers in recent years and needs those players to start paying dividends. Getting pressure on Jets rookie QB Mark Sanchez and forcing him into mistakes will be crucial for the Jaguars. The Jags defense currently ranks 23rd overall with a 26th ranked pass rush and a 22nd ranked rush defense. The Jags average 19.6ppg and give up 24.8ppg, while they are 1-3 SU on the road where they average 14ppg and allow 27.2ppg. They are 3-5 ATS and 5-3 over/under.

The Jets (4-4) lost to Miami 25-30 at home in Week 8 and sat out last week with a bye. Against the Dolphins QB Mark Sanchez made 20 of 35 passes for 265 yards with two TD passes and a rushing TD; overall he’s thrown for 1,443 yards with eight TD passes and 10 interceptions for a 67.9 passer rating. RB Thomas Jones had 27 carries for 102 yards, while WR Dustin Keller made eight catches for 76 yards with a TD. WR Braylon Edwards also added a TD. The Jets defense had a high six sacks on the day and held the Dolphins high powered wildcat to a low 52 yards rushing.  When the Jets started off 3-0 their defense was brilliant, now that they lost four of five, they’ll be solid and fresh coming off a bye week. The Jets defense currently ranks second best with the second best pass rush in the league, but struggle against the run with a 15th ranked rush defense. They’ll have to watch out for Jags RB Maurice Jones-Drew who has 11 TD’s and 737 yards rushing. The Jets are no slouches at running the ball either; they lead the league with 177 yards rushing per-game thanks to RB Thomas Jones who has seven TD’s with 704 yards rushing. The Jets average 22.1ppg and give up 16.8ppg, while they are 2-2 SU at home where they average 19.5ppg and allow 18ppg. They are 4-4 ATS and 4-4 over/under.
