Denver (3-5, 2-2 V) got a 38-24, road win, over the Oakland Raiders, in Week 9. QB Tim Tebow completed 10 of 21 passes and threw two touchdown passes, Eddie Royal returned a punt 85 yards for the tiebreaking score, while RB Willis McGahee ran for 163 yards with two touchdowns. Tebow did much of his damage with his legs, rushing for a career-high 117 yards on 12 carries. He did enough damage with his arm to keep the Raiders honest.

Assuming Tebow remains the starter, the Chiefs game will be the first of six over the final eight weeks of the season he'll face a 3-4 defense. The chief reason many defensive coordinators prefer the 3-4 look — three linemen, four linebackers — is the unpredictability of the scheme in the pass rush. In Tebow's 10 quarters against a 3-4 defense as the Broncos' quarterback, he is 33-of-73 passing (45.2 percent) for 445 yards and five touchdowns to go with two interceptions. Three teams in the league are averaging less than 5 yards per pass attempt this season, and they are a combined 6-18. The Broncos are 30th in the league at 4.9 yards per attempt, the St. Louis Rams are 31st at 4.8 and the Jacksonville Jaguars are last in the league at 4.1 yards per attempt. Now comes the next step for the Broncos, the decision whether to do something few, if any, NFL teams have done with their most prized roster possession through the years — put their starting quarterback in a full-time option offense. was a change of pace, something to take advantage of the idea that when a defense designs a plan to defend the run, it usually does not assign anyone to the quarterback. The Broncos have pushed the envelope further. Get $50 in Free NFL Picks here.

Kansas City (4-4, 2-2 H) lost to the Miami Dolphins 3-31, at home, in Week 9. QB Matt Cassel was 20 of 39 for 253 yards, while RB Jackie Battle had 14 carries for 40 yards and WR Steve Breaston made seven catches for 115 yards.

Chiefs coach Todd Haley said Wednesday that, after two days off, his team was physically and emotionally recharged from playing two games in six days. LB Derrick Johnson and the Chiefs can expect to see a lot of the option on Sunday when the Broncos play at Arrowhead Stadium in the first of two meetings between the teams this season. The Broncos changed much of what they do on offense since replacing former starting quarterback Kyle Orton with Tim Tebow three weeks ago. The Chiefs this week in practice are having not only backup quarterback Tyler Palko, like Tebow a left-hander, plays as the Denver quarterback. They’re also using backup wide receiver Jerheme Urban, who isn’t as big as Tebow but a nifty open-field runner. Urban was a sprinter for his college track team.
