Detroit Lions vs Chicago Bears Spreads NFL Picks Week 10Detroit (6-2, 4-0 V) was on their bye week in Week 9. In Week 8 they snapped a two-game skid with a 45-10 victory over the Denver Broncos. QB Matt Stafford completed 21 of 30 passes for 267 yards and three touchdowns, including a 56-yarder to Calvin Johnson, who joined Randy Moss as the only wide receivers since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger to catch 11 touchdown passes in his team's first eight games. The Lions sacked Tebow seven times and turned his two turnovers into touchdowns. RB Maurice Morris had 13 carries for 58 yards with a touchdown.

The question will be whether the Lions can break Chicago's streak of solid protection of Cutler. When they last met this season, the Bears had 14 penalties; they were called for false-starts nine times. And it made Jay Cutler's performance in defeat all the more remarkable. Cutler's stats looked pedestrian (28-38, 249 yards, one touchdown, no picks), but completing 74 percent in that environment while under attack by a fierce Detroit rush was remarkable. In the three games Chicago has played, Cutler has been sacked three times, the Bears are 3-0, and they've scored 93 points. The Bears aren't simply waiting until Cutler gets flushed from the pocket. They're moving him voluntarily, mostly to the right, on more than a few pass plays, and he's responding by looking like some sort of Randall Cunningham back there –zinging line throws to his receivers. Chicago (5-3, 3-1 H) got a 30-24, road win, over the Philadelphia Eagles, in Week 9. QB Jay Cutler was 18 of 32 for 208 yards and two touchdowns. RB Matt Forte ran for 133 yards and Marion Barber added a touchdown. WR Earl Bennett made five catches for 95 yards with a touchdown. The Bears are third in the NFC North behind the Green Bay Packers (8-0) and Detroit Lions (6-2).

They key for Detroit will be to play sound on offense. At Denver, the Lions came out calculated, scored quickly and never looked back. "When we played them the first time, our fans did a great job of being electric and we were playing fast as an offense and a defense getting at their offense some, too," said Stafford. "Hopefully we can have more of the same." The Bears win streak can be summed up by the protection of QB Jay Cutler. After averaging 3.6 sacks per game over the first five games, the Bears have surrendered three total sacks over their three-game winning streak, allowing zero sacks in Monday's win at Philadelphia. "But they're protecting him a little bit better (and) running the ball better and all that helps him out." RB Matt Forte has established himself as one of the NFL's premier runners, averaging 5.4 yards per carry. Forte has 805 rushing yards on the season, just 20 behind the league-leading LeSean McCoy. Add to that his 436 receiving yards and Forte may be the biggest dual-threat in the game. When the two teams met the first time, the Lions surrendered 116 rushing yards to Forte, though they allowed just 28 rushing yards in the second half. The big issue with the Lions was explosion plays; Detroit gave up runs of 23, 19, 16 and 14 yards to Forte.
