The Indianapolis Colts host the Kansas City Chiefs in an NFL Week 11 matchup of foes who met in an NFL Pick in last years playoffs. It’s hard to believe, but the Colts are coming off their second straight loss after last week’s 23-21 defeat at the hands of the San Diego Chargers. After being drubbed 23-0 at the start the Colts came storming back only to lose when one of the most clutch kickers in NFL history, Adam Vinatieri shanked a game winning field goal. It can’t all be blamed on Vinatieri as QB Payton Manning had one of the worst days of his career throwing for a record six interceptions. RB Joseph Addai had a rare off day as he rushed for only 56 yards on 22 carries. The Colts are currently ninth in the NFL in rushing yards as they average 130.7 yards per game and will be facing a Chiefs defense that ranks 17th in rushing defense giving up 108.9 yards per game. Last weeks loss dropped the Colts to 7-2 SU and holds a one game cushion over both Jacksonville and Tennessee in their division. Indianapolis has been hurt by a multitude of injuries including a devastating loss of DE Dwight Feeney for the season. SportsBetting.com has Indianapolis listed as a -14.5 point favorite.
The Kansas City Chiefs take to the road for only the second time in the last two months. Unfortunately for the Chiefs home cooking hasn’t been very friendly as they are coming off two home losses in a row including last weeks 27-11 loss to Denver. In last weeks loss veteran Priest Holmes subbed for start RB Larry Johnson and put up respectable numbers rushing for 65 yards on 20 carriers. Holmes will have to step it up this week as word is that Larry Johnson has a crack bone in his foot and will be out for the remainder of the season. The QB spot has been a problem for the Chiefs this season as they rank only 30th in scoring at 15 points per game. As a result they are going to turn to QB Croyle in the hopes that he can spark some scoring. TE Tony Gonzalez still remains Kansas City’s big threat in the air as he has 55 catches for 644 yards and four touchdowns on the season. Indianapolis has owned this series as they are a very profitable 8-1 ATS their L9 versus the Chiefs. The Colts have also been very tough at home going 11-3 ATS in L14. But when listed as a double digit favorite at home they are only 2-2 ATS. But there might not be much hope for Kansas City as they are 3-12 ATS in L15 on the road during the second half of the season when they are playing an opponent who is averaging at least 24 Points per game. Can Indianapolis bounce back against what is perceived to be an overmatched opponent? Lot’s of injuries for the Colts to contend with in this one.
