What can you say about an NFL pick on the Miami Dolphins in Week 11 when they face off versus the Philadelphia Eagles in the city of Brotherly Love. The Dolphins have been absolutely horrible and after last week’s loss to the Bill is the first team since 1990 to start the season at 0-9 SU. The Dolphins blew an 8 point fourth quarter lead to lose for the second time in as many games by a score of 13-10. After starting Trent Green for the first five games before getting hurt the Dolphins hoped that Cleo Lemon was going to be the answer. Unfortunately for the Dolphins he didn’t win either including a 16 for 29 performance and only 131 yards in last weeks loss. As a result, head coach Cam Cameron decided to switch QB’s and go with rookie John Beck. Beck will be the 12th quarterback to start for the Dolphins since Dan Marino retired in 1999. Beck was the first quarterback drafted in the first or second round by the Dolphins since Marino. Giving him a tryout now will help them decide whether they need to acquire a quarterback in 2008. Bodog.com has listed Miami as a +10 point underdog this week.
The Philadelphia Eagles basically staved off elimination when they rallied with 20 4th quarter points to beat the Washington Redskins 33-25. Last weeks win left the Eagles at 4-5 SU but left them still in last place in the NFC East Division. The Eagles have been alternating wins and losses since Week 2 and can still pull into the wild-card race if they start winning some games. McNabb, with an injured shoulder, completed 20 of 28 passes for 251 yards and four touchdowns. RB Brian Westbrook caught two touchdown passes and ran for another score while rushing for 100 yards on 20 carriers. Another bright spot for the eagles was that scored on all three possessions in the red zone after going only 10-of-28 on such opportunities this year. Even though the Eagles might have saved their season for now there is still not an over abundance of enthusiasm as they go on a four-game stretch against opponents who have a combined record of 27-8 SU (77%) after facing the Dolphins this week.
There is also a need for caution in this one as the Eagles are just 6-16 ATS in its L22 during the second half of the season when playing opponents who are being outscored by over 6 points per game. For total players the Eagles are 10-1 under in their L11 home games when playing teams with a lower than 25% winning percentage and are scoring just 16.7 points per game.
