NFL Picks Week 11: New England Patriots vs Buffalo Bills

by Alexander Banks on Thursday, November 15th, 2007

A lot can be said both pro and con with NFL Picks about the New England Patriots quest for a perfect season when they travel in Week 11 to take on the Buffalo Bills sitting atop the AFC east at 9-0 SU and 8-1 ATS. After their come from behind over the then unbeaten Indianapolis Colts the Patriots have had two weeks off to prepare.  The Patriots are the top scoring offense in the league and will be playing a Buffalo team whose defense has allowed the fourth most points in the NFL.  QB Tom Brady has been in a world of his own and is on target to crush Peyton Manning’s single season touchdown and passer rating records.  Brady’s favorite receiver as been Randy Moss who in their last game versus the Colts tied a Patriot season record for TD receptions as 12.  However, the Patriots weren’t without problems against the Colts as Brady threw two interceptions and the defense allowed RB Addai to run for 146 yards.  WagerWeb.com has the New England Patriots listed as a hefty -15 point favorites.

The Buffalo Bills who are one of the surprise teams in the NFL this season are 4-0 SU their last four and have won 5 of their last 6.  Although the Bills are 5-4 SU overall they could have easily notched 2 more victories as they have two last minute losses to Dallas and Denver.  None the less, the Bills are coming off a less then impressive 13-10 victory over the winless Miami Dolphins.  After whining about not getting a shot at getting his starting QB job back JP Losman was back under center but produced only a 12 for 23 day and 157 yards with no touchdowns and an interception.  The Dolphin defense also did a good job containing rookie RB Marshawn Lynch allowing him to run for 61 yards on 19 carries.

Before you write off this game it could be more dangerous than experts give it credit for. As written, above Buffalo has been a good bet going 5-1 SU & 6-0 ATS in its L6. In addition, the Bills are also 9-1 ATS in L10 at home.  Although they didn’t win their first game versus the Patriots the Bills did hold the lead for much of the first half.  However, New England has shown to be a profitable proposition when they have come out of the bye wee going 4-0 SU & 3-1 ATS in L4. For those total players the under is 6-1 in L7 games the Patriots have come out of a bye week. This one is a Prime Time matchup this Sunday so it will get some good public betting action.
