The Houston Texans are at it again, spoiling preseason expectations with another mid-season 
collapse. Gary Kubiak's squad jumped out to a 3-1 start, but it now stands at 4-4 after dropping back-to-back games to the Colts and Chargers.
There is still plenty time for the Texans to get things headed back in the right direction, but it will not be easy considering today's meeting with the Jags is followed by games against the Jets, Titans, Eagles, and Ravens, teams that are a combined 22-11 on the season. It also will not be easy if Kubiak is unable to shore up his pourous defense.
Houston's defense, which ranks 32nd in yards per game allowed (399.5) and 28th in points per game allowed (28.2), has given up at least 29 points in its last four games.
If the season's trend holds true, Jacksonville is, most likely, destined for a win today. The Jaguars, with the exception of their season opening win against the Broncos, have followed up each victory with another. They are coming off a bye this weekend; however, they spanked the woeful Cowboys 35-17 in Dallas prior to their break.
That kind of history is tenuous at best, though, and Jacksonville's defense, which rivals the ineptitude of the Texans, faces a big challenge in trying to slow Houston's explosive offense. The Jags will, in all likelihood, find themselves trying to keep pace in this one. Should David Garrard, who missed two of the team's last three games with a head injury, play like he did against the Pokes (17-of-21 for 260 yards and four touchdowns), that will not be a problem.
