New York Jets vs Cleveland Browns 2010 NFL Odds, 2010 NFL Predictions & 2010 NFL Picks: Head Coach Eric Mangini will look to continue the Cleveland magic today as his former team, the New York Jets, cruise into town for a gridiron clash on the North Coast. The game is scheduled to get underway at 1:00pm ET at Cleveland Browns Stadium; it will be broadcast live on CBS. 2010 NFL Odds, Predictions & Picks at online sportsbook Bodog.com have the Jets listed as a -3.5 against the spread road favorite and the Over/Under set at 37.5.
New York almost realized its first two game losing streak of the season last weekend, but a fourth quarter comeback
coupled with a five play 56 yard opening drive in overtime secured a 23-20 Jets win in Detroit.
The victory improved New York's overall record to 6-2 and it also kept the team's road perfection intact (4-0 away from home). Some disturbing offensive trends, which began to emerge in the Jets week six win at Denver, were still evident in the Motor City, though.
Bad Trend No. 1: New York is 2-for-6 in its last eight trips in the red zone (33 percent) after converting eight times in 18 attempts (44 percent) in games one through five. Bad Trend No. 2: Mark Sanchez compiled a 93.5 passer rating through the five first games of the season after throwing exactly zero interceptions. Sanchez has produced a 62.1 rating the last three outings, though, thanks in large part to the five picks he has tossed.
Should those recent developments continue today, the Jets will, no doubt, find themselves in a dog fight with the upstart Browns. Cleveland, despite its 3-5 record has played tough all season, but only recently has Eric Mangini's squad began to realize the fruits of its yeoman-like effort.
The Browns are 2-0 in their last two games after dispatching the Saints 30-17 and the Patriots 34-14. The emergence of rookie quarterback Colt McCoy, who completed 14-of-19 passes for 174 in routing New England, has coincided with the newfound success, which is hardly a surprise given his tremendous winning track record at the University of Texas.
Running back Peyton Hillis also also been instrumental in Cleveland about face. Hillis has been solid all season long, but the last two games he has rushed for 253 yards and three touchdowns in 45 attempts (5.6 yards per carry).
The Browns have played well at home this season too, where they Cincinnati and New England and lost to Kansas City and Atlanta by a combined 12 points.
NFL Picks Betting Trend: The Under is 8-1-1 in the Jets last 10 games as a road favorite with a total between 37 and 41.
