by Scott Burgess on Wednesday, November 14th, 2012

Some of the big headlines from Week 10 include: Colts win big, Dolphins sink instead of swim, Bills push Patriots, but Pats win, Ravens humiliate Raiders, Peyton Manning strikes again, Giants lose again, Falcons no longer perfect, Rams Niners play to a tie, Jets grounded and Tony Romo gets a win. One of the better matchups in Week 11 features the San Francisco 49ers hosting the Chicago Bears. Let’s preview the Bears at San Francisco while I make my expert NFL Week 11 Predictions. Chicago Bears at San Francisco 49ers

The Bears (7-2, 3-1 V) suffered a 6-13 loss to the Houston Texans at home. In a showdown between two of the NFL’s best teams, the Texans beat the Bears at their own game. They came away with four takeaways and Tim Dobbins delivered the biggest blow when he drove his helmet into Jay Cutler late in the second quarter causing a concussion.

The Niners (6-2-1, 3-1 H) played to a 24-24 tie — the NFL’s first tie game in four years — as both team’s kickers missed overtime field goals Sunday. The Niners lost quarterback Alex Smith to a first-half concussion. Backup Colin Kaepernick completed 11 of 17 passes for 117 yards with one rushing touchdown, while RB Frank Gore ran one in. WR Michael Crabtree added a touchdown as well.

Bears Coach Lovie Smith reportedly is hopeful that Cutler will be back next week, but again, Cutler has to go through the same concussion protocol as Alex Smith. Niners Coach Jim Harbaugh said Smith is going through the league protocol for returning to the field. This will require Smith pass at least a pair of neurological tests, which include being asymptomatic at rest and after exertion. This is Smith’s second concussion in the last two seasons. Both teams do not have to issue injury reports until Thursday, so it will likely be a couple days before we hear more about either QB’s status for next Monday.
