NFL Picks Week 11: Chicago Bears vs Seattle Seahawks

by Alexander Banks on Friday, November 16th, 2007

The Chicago Bears take their slim playoff hopes on the road in Week 11 when they look for the NFL Pick over the Seattle Seahawks.  The Bears might have saved their season when much maligned QB Rex Grossman came in for the injured starter Brian Griese threw a 59 yard touchdown pass to Bernard Berrian that put the Bears ahead for good against the Oakland Raiders after they trailed most of the game.  The gave the Bears their first win after their bye week and put them 4-5 SU on the season. Grossman was benched earlier in the season after throwing 6 interceptions and only one touchdown in his first three games of the season.  Even though he had to come in for the injured Griese it didn’t seem like it would pay off as he fumbled the first snap from center.  He wasn’t the most efficient passer either going just 5-for-12 for 72 yards before the winning drive.  The Bears didn’t have much success moving the ball on the ground either as Cedric Benson rushed for only 76 yards on 29 carries.  Sportsbook.com as installed Seattle as a 5 1/2 point favorite.

After faltering during the early part of the season it looks that Seattle might finally be hitting their stride.  The Seahawks manhandled the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night 24-0 to run their record to 5-4 SU.  They have won 2 of their last three with the only set back a touch OT loss to Cleveland.  The Seattle sputtering offense looked to have woken up last week as they amassed 380 yards of total offense even without Alexander.  QB Matt Hasselbeck pitched in as he threw for 278 yards and two touchdowns.  The Seahawk defense looked impenetrable as they allowed San Francisco only 173 total yards of offense and only a total of six first downs.

In this matchup the Seahawks will be looking for revenge as they lost to the Bears twice last season 37-6 and 27-24, the latter being in the Divisional Playoffs. This will be only the 2nd time in 15 years that the Bears will have visited Seattle. The Bears have owned this series going 3-1 both SU and ATS in their L4 meetings. Also consider that Chicago is 24-8 ATS in November road games. For total players, head Coach Holmgren 23-5 over versus a team who allows over 5 yards per play.
