Atlanta Falcons vs Carolina Panthers NFL Odds, NFL Picks & NFL Predictions: NFC South rivals Carolina and Atlanta meet today at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. The Falcons currently have a two game lead over the Panthers in the division standings. Kickoff is set for 1:00pm ET on FOX. NFL Odds at SBGglobal.com have the Panthers listed as a +1.5 against the spread home underdog.
Falcons Breakdown: Atlanta snapped a two game losing streak last Sunday as they beat the Washington Redskins 31-17 at
the Georgia Dome. The win improved the Falcons record to 5-3 and gave them a two game lead over third place Carolina in the NFC South standings. Matt Ryan had a pedestrian effort, completing 17-of-24 passes for 135 yards, a touchdown and one interception, but Michael Turner showed up big against Washington's defense. The Northern Illinois product carried the ball 18 times for 166 yards and two touchdowns in the easy win.
Atlanta is a miserable 1-3 on the road this season, despite averaging 25.8 points per game in opposing stadiums. The problem? The Falcons defense has been a virtual doormat away from the Georgia Dome as illustrated by the 72 points they have given up in their last two road contests, both of which happened to be losses (Dallas, New Orleans).
Panthers Breakdown: Carolina turned in a solid effort last weekend, but the Panthers were unable to secure a fourth win in their last five games. John Fox's squad succummed to the Saints 20-30 at the Superdome, dropping their overall record to 3-5. Turnovers, once again, doomed Carolina (-9 in turnover margin on the year) as New Orleans' Anthony Hargrove returned a DeAngelo Williams fumble for a touchdown with just 2:00 left in the game. The miscue by Williams spoiled an otherwise tremendous day as he carried the ball 21 times for 149 yards and two scores.
The Panthers are 1-2 at Bank of America Stadium this season where they are averaging a paltry 13 points per game. Visitors have made a habit of capitalizing on Carolina's ball security issues and have produced an average of 25 points per contest as a result.
NFL Odds Betting Trend: The Falcons are 8-2 straight up in their last 10 games as a road favorite with a spread between 0 and 3.5. The Under is 9-1 in those games.
