NFL Week 11 Predictions: After looking impressive in last week’s victory over the San Diego Chargers, the AFC West leading (5-4) Oakland Raiders [-1½] hope to get Darren McFadden and Jacoby Ford back in time to visit the NFL Odds underdog (2-7) Minnesota Vikings [+1½]. McFadden has missed two games due to a mid-foot foot injury, while Ford has been wearing a walking boot after injuring himself last Thursday night.
Thanks to Michael Bush, the Raiders didn’t really feel Run DMC’s absence last week. Bush ran for a season-high 157 yards on 30 carries, as Oakland defeated San Diego, 24-17. Carson Palmer also showed flashes of the old Carson, as he threw beautiful spirals all over the field, completing 14 of his 20 pass attempts for a total of 299 yards, 2 touchdowns and an interception.
Although this may seem like a game the Silver and Black should win easily, they have to contain Vikings running back, Adrian Peterson. That becomes a tougher task when you have one of the worst defenses in the league, especially against the run.
Going into Week 11, the Raiders D ranks 27th in the league in points (25.9 ppg), 26th in total yards (378.4 typg), 22nd in passing yards (246 pypg), and 26th against the rush (132.4 rypg). Minnesota comes in with the 5th best rushing attack in the league, averaging 142.5 yards per game. But not everything is bad news for the Raiders.
The Vikings also have plenty of holes defensively. Going into this game, the Vikes are dead-last in the league in points allowed (27.1), 23rd in yards allowed (366.7), 30th defending the pass (272.8), and 6th against the rush (93.9). So if these numbers mean anything, we could be in for a shootout. If that’s the case, I like the Raiders to come out on top, as Palmer should have another 300-plus passing game.
