NFL Picks Week 11: How discouraging must it be to beat one of the best teams in the league in the Pittsburgh Steelers, only to turn around and give the win right back against one of the NFL’s worst in the Seattle Seahawks? That’s the case of the (6-3) Baltimore Ravens [-7], who appear to have multi-personalities this season.
Instead of sitting atop the AFC North, the Ravens fine themselves tied for second place in the Division. Who are they tied with? The same team they’ll be taking on this Sunday at M&T Bank Stadium, the NFL Point Spreads underdogs, (6-3) Cincinnati Bengals [+7]. This game has an opening kickoff slated for 1 PM ET on CBS Sports and an OVER/UNDER of 40½ points.
The most disappointing part about Sunday’s 22-17 loss to Seattle is the opportunity John Harbaugh’s team let slip away. With a chance to create some breathing room in the standings, the Ravens simply choked.
"We understand that we are going to be a target of a lot of criticism right now. We understand that. We understand that it's going to be local; it's going to be national," said Harbaugh. "We understand the fans are very disappointed in the game. We're very disappointed in the game. We had an opportunity here to do something to separate ourselves a little bit in our division and we didn't finish."
With no time to feel sorry for themselves, the Ravens will have to gather wuickly, as a very dangerous team comes into town. Despite losing at home last week to Pittsburgh, the Bengals have become the second biggest surprise this season only behind the San Francisco 49ers.
With a rookie quarterback at the helm, Cincy has certainly put the league on notice with its defense and resiliency. The last time Cincy lost a game, this team got right back on its horse, stringing together a 5-game win streak that included wins over Buffalo, Seattle and Tennessee.
How will they respond this time around as we near the end of the regular season and facing a team desperate to avoid mediocrity once again? I definitely like the Ravens at home on Sunday over the Bengals!
