Week 11 NFL Picks: Oakland Raiders vs Minnesota Vikings

by Alexander Banks on Saturday, November 17th, 2007

Will the Minnesota Vikings be able to survive versus the Oakland Raiders and be and NFL Pick with the loss of Adrian Peterson in Week 11 of action? Last week the Vikings didn't fare too well when Adrian Peterson was shut down and knocked out of last week's game in a 34-0 whitewash at the hands of the Green Bay Packers putting them at 3-6 SU and in a tough position to make the playoffs. They'll have to find a way to win the game this week as Peterson is not expected to even suit up. Peterson will be replaced by Chester Taylor who last season rushed for 1,200 yards while and averaged 5.0 yards a carry this season before losing his starting job to Peterson. The QB carousal continues this week as head coach Brad Childress goes back to Tarvaris Jackson as his starter. Last week QB Brooks Bollinger went 16-for-26 for 176 yards, with no touchdowns and one interception while putting no points on the board. Sportsbook.com

Oakland comes into this game no better off than Minnesota as they lost their fifth game in a row last week, a 17-6 loss to the Chicago Bears. The loss dropped the Raiders to 2-7 SU on the season. Oakland also is struggling at the quarterback position and will be making a change as well this week when they start X-Viking, Dante Culpepper. Although last weeks’ starter Josh McCown struggled last week versus the Bears you have to wonder if Culpepper is the answer as he has completed only 56 percent of his passes for 817 yards while throwing four touchdowns with four interceptions. The Raiders might not be worrying about that as they will be facing a Minnesota defense who gave up a whopping 488 yards to the Packers last week while teams are averaging 361.8 yards per game. The Vikings currently have the fourth-worst ranked defense in the league. has Minnesota as a -5 point favorite.

Although the Raiders are only 3-6 ATS this season there might be some solace as all of these wins have come on the road. But before jumping on that bandwagon also consider that Oakland is 1-6 SU & ATS in its L7 vs. the NFC. Minnesota might not be able to do anything about that as they are 0-7 SU & ATS their L7 versus the AFC.

This might not be the game to wager on but join Michael Alexander as he beats the books with a strong card of NFL GUARANTEED winners this week.
