NFL Predictions Week 11

by Alexander Banks on Thursday, November 17th, 2011

NFL Predictions Week 11: There are many interesting matchups this week, with no shortage of great storylines. One of the biggest games could have an effect on both Conferences, as it’ll be an NFC North vs AFC West battle at Soldier Field when the (4-5) San Diego Chargers [+3½] visit the NFL Point Spreads favorite (6-3) Chicago Bears [-3½]. As former division rivals, Philip Rivers and former Denver Broncos QB, Jay Cutler, made headlines a couple of times: Rivers for his loud mouth and Cutler for his criticism for having a big mouth.

NFL Predictions Week 11On a televised game on Christmas Eve, 2007, Rivers mocked Cutler in front of cameras during the fourth quarter of a game that went the Chargers way, 23-3. Cutler didn’t appreciate that, and he let it be known in an interview the next time the two got together again the following season.

"I don't like how he carries himself,” he said of Rivers. “I don't like some of the stuff he does on the field.”

With the media well aware of all this, questions about one another have been going back and fourth this week. Nonetheless, it seems like Cutler and Rivers learned their lesson, because they’re not biting.

As he prepares to face the Chargers for the first time three years, Cutler was asked if he misses playing against his former nemesis. Measuring his words, he responded.

“I haven't played him for years so it's kind of different,” he added. “It's something that's in the past. He's a great player. He's still putting up big numbers, and they're going to throw the ball down the field. The way we're playing defensively, hopefully we have a chance to shut him down.”

Rivers was also asked the same question this week, and like Cutler, his words were thought out. After all, I would think the last thing Rivers would want to do is fire up a team that’s been on a tear, especially considering the Bolts fallout this year. San Diego has gone from ruliung the division for many years, to perhaps becoming the second worst team in the AFC West.

“We've spoken in the past since then, whether it be the coin toss or the postgame,” Rivers said. “It wasn't as if we were big buddies beforehand and then had a big falling off. I mean, he and I had minimal conversations even before all that got blown way out of proportion. But I have nothing against Jay. I think he's a heck of a player. One thing you know about him, he's a super competitor. One thing he's doing right now is he's leading his team to win four in a row, and I'm fighting like crazy to just try to get a win.”
