Oakland Raiders vs Minnesota Vikings Spread 2011 NFL Predictions Week 11

by Alexander Banks on Thursday, November 17th, 2011

Oakland Raiders vs Minnesota Vikings Spread 2011 NFL Predictions Week 11: With Darren McFadden still uncertain for Sunday, the (5-4, Road: 3-1) Oakland Raiders [-1] will call bruising back, Michael Bush’s number once again, when they travel to the City of Lakes to take on the (2-7, Home: 1-3) Minnesota Vikings [+1].

Oakland Raiders vs Minnesota Vikings Spread 2011 NFL Predictions Week 11This week 11 NFL contest is scheduled to kickoff on Sunday afternoon at 1 PM ET on CBS Sports. According to NFL Point Spreads experts, the Raiders and Vikings’ OVER/UNDER is set at a combined total of 45½ points scored.

The Raiders are 6-3-0 against the spread, but just 4-5 in the O/U. Oakland’s offense averages 23.1 points per game, while their defense allows 25.9 per game, which ranks 27th in the league. Despite being the better team, the Raiders’ defensive woes open the door for Adrian Peterson to have a huge game.

Oaktown is one of the worst teams in the NFL at stopping the run, currently giving up an average of 132.4 rushing yards per game. Their passing resistance isn’t much better, however. Coming into Week 11, Chuck Bresnahan’s defense gives up just about 246 yards through the air, ranked 22nd in the NFL. Nonetheless, Oakland is unbeaten against the spread on the road this season, with a perfect 4-0-0 record. And finally, Hue Jackson’s team is 5-3-0 on grass and 1-0-0 on turf.

For the Vikings, we all know they will rely heavily on AP’s ability to control the tempo of the game and chew the clock. But Minnesota is just 4-4-1 this season against the spread. The Vikes are also 2-3-0 on grass and 2-1-1 on turf.

Offensively, they have the fifth best rushing attack, just behind the Raiders. However, that’s about all you can say about this team from an offensive standpoint. Minnesota is 18th in the league in total yards (325.2), a whopping 28th in passing (180), and its 19.9 points per game is 23rd in the league.

Defensively, where you would expect them to be strong, they aren’t very good either. Other than ranking great against opposing runners (Ranked 6th: 93.9 rypg), everything else needs major work: Ranked 23rd in Total Yards (366.7), 30th in passing yards (272.8), and 31st in points allowed (27.1).
