Week 12 of the NFL has some key NFL Picks on tap but none more important to the Denver Broncos with they travel to the Windy City to take on the Chicago Bears. The Broncos are coming off a big win on Monday Night over the Tennessee Titans 34-20 leaving them at 5-5 SU on the season. The win was their second in row and put them in a first place tie with the San Diego Chargers in the AFC West. In the Monday game the Broncos were able to beat the Titans because of the big play as four of their touchdowns were longer than 40 yards, which was a franchise record. The Tennessee defense made the erratic Denver QB Jay Cutler look like a pro-bowler as he was an efficient 16 of 21 for 200 yards and two touchdowns. The Denver rushing attack amassed 166 yards with RB Andre Hall getting 89 of them. Although the Denver defense was able to keep Tennessee out of the end zone they didn’t play all that well as they gave up 323 total yards. The early line at BetUS.com has Denver listed as a +3 point underdog. The Chicago Bears come into this game in a must win situation. Their loss last week to the Seattle Seahawks dropped them to 4-6 SU on the season and three games (when you consider their tie breaker versus Detroit) out of the final playoff spot. After being the NFC representative in last years’ Super Bowl, the Bears have been a model of inconsistency. Two things can be attributed to their demise this year and one of them is at the QB position. Last week the Bears decided to go with x-starter Rex Grossman after Brian Griese had started the last six games. Although Grossman was respectable hitting 24 of 37 for 266 yards, it was his fumble late in the game when Chicago was driving that will probably be remembered. The second issue this season with the Bears has been their defense. Once a dominant force in the NFL last week they allowed 425 yards including 87 on 18 carries by Maurice Morris and it was the fourth time in their last 10 games where they have allowed 30 or more compared to just 3 times in their previous two seasons. Chicago might have history on their side in this one as they are 17-6 ATS versus the AFC while the Broncos are 4-14 ATS in their L18 games against NFC North division opponents, including 0-2 in this year. Chicago is also 6-1-1 ATS their L8 games in this series.
This one is more of a “must win” for the Bears while Denver is playing in a division they can probably win with just a .500 mark this season. So who will want it more?
