Fighting for their playoff lives in Week 12 the Washington Redskins hope to be the NFL Pick as they face off versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Off of a tough loss to the Dallas Cowboys last week the Redskins dropped to 5-5 SU and four games in back of the Cowboys leaving them just about no hope of capturing the NFC East crown. Things might be looking up Washington as QB Jason Campbell might have come of age against the Cowboys as he threw for 348 yards on 33 of 54 attempts while having a shot in the last minutes of the game to pull out the win. The Washington running game that seemed to have picked up momentum was shut down last week as lead back Clinton Portis had 12 carries for only 35 yards. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers looked to have seized control of the NFC South after last weeks win opening up a two game lead over both New Orleans and Carolina with a 6-4 SU mark. The Buccaneers coasted to a 31-7 by virtue of their tough defense. The Bucs defense was unbelievable allowing only 49 yards rushing, picking off two passes and scoring as many points as the anemic Atlanta offense. The performance of the defense kept the pressure off of QB Jeff Garcia as he threw for 159 yards on 10 or 20 passing. RB Earnest Graham pitched in with 102 rushing yards.
Washington clings to slim playoff hopes after losing to Dallas putting them at 2-4 SU & 1-4-1 ATS in their L6. One thing to keep in mind however is that the underdog is 4-0-1 ATS in the L5 played at Tampa. Don’t expect a lot of scoring as Gibbs’ clubs are 17-8 under as a road dog while Tampa Bay is 25-11 under in their L36 versus NFC East opponents.
Tampa Bay seems to be in control of their division and can seemingly turn their attention to improving their playoff position. But Washington is badly in need of a win. Which one will prevail?
