Week 12 will conclude with an AFC intraconference battle between the East leading Patriots taking on the West’s third place Chiefs. Opening kickoff for this MNF game is scheduled for 8:30 PM ET and it’ll be broadcasted live on ESPN. According to NFL Point Spreads specialists, the OVER/UNDER between Kansas City and New England is set at a combined total of 46.5 points.

After suffering a tough home loss to Tim Tebow and the Broncos, Todd Haley received the news that starting quarterback Matt Cassel could miss the remainder of the season with a hand injury. After undergoing surgery last Monday night, Cassel will be expected to miss at least 4-6 weeks. Problem with that is that we only have 7 NFL weeks remaining in the regular season.

It’s going to be interesting how well Tyler Palko performs as his makes his first NFL start. Despite coming into the league as an undrafted free agent in 2007, Palko never saw any action with the team that signed him, the New Orleans Saints. Palko has bounced around from the NFL to the UFL and back. Utilized mostly as a member of practice squads, the 28-years-old, Palko has spent some time with the Saints, Cardinals, Steelers and now is with the Chiefs.

“Tyler is the next in line, and he’s done a terrific job, like I said, of keeping himself ready,” Haley said. “That’s what the No. 2 quarterback has to do, because you don’t know. At a moment’s notice, you could be in there playing, just like any other position.”

The Patriots feature one of the most explosive offenses in the league with Tom Brady at the helm. Leading the league in passing, Brady is sure to have a monstrous game against a defense that’s struggles in every defensive area except against the run. This should be a great learning experience for a guy like Palko, who’ll get a close look at how Brady runs the Patriots offense.
