After their second win in a row the 6-4 SU Seattle Seahawks take on the St. Louis Rams in hopes of holding on to their cone game lead in the NFC West in Week 12 of NFL pick action. Seattle QB Matt Hasselbeck continued to have arguably the best season of his career as he completed 30-44 for 337 yards. For much of the season the Seattle running game has been nonexistent as rumors of Shawn Alexanders demise continue. As a result head coach Mike Holmgren has reluctantly gone to a wide-open shotgun offense and that has appeared to have worked as Hasselbeck has flourished as he has three 300+ yards passing games this season. RB Maurice Morris did have a good game against the Chicago defense as he rushed for 87 yards on 18 carries. Seattle’s defense has been tough this season as they are allowing only 16.4 points per game and has held four teams to 6 points or less so far this year. Sportsbook.com has Seattle posted as a -3 favorite.
After starting out the season one of two 0-8 teams, the St. Louis Rams seem to have a bit of hope as they won their second game in a row last week beating the San Francisco 49er 13-9. Not that the Rams faced a potent offense in the 49ers but they did manage to control most of the game allowing only a total of 96 yards in the first three quarters. But did almost complete a meltdown allowing the 49ers 148 in the last quarter alone. St. Louis RB Steven Jackson was back for his second full game so it’s no coincidence they have won both games as he contributed 92 yards on 23 carriers. This allowed QB Marc Bulger to be an efficient 21-32 for 155 yards and one touchdown.
St. Louis would like nothing more than to spoil Seattle’s playoff run and they just might as the underdog has won eight of the L9 meetings ATS. The Seahawks are only 8-17 ATS as a road favorite. Considering Seattle’s defense one thing to keep is mind is that St. Louis is 8-25 ATS in its L33 games against teams yielding less than 17 PPG on defense. Seattle. Being home might not help that as the Rams are a horrible 2-7 SU & ATS at home.
Turnovers might be the key to this one as the Rams have none during their current two game winning streak.
