Quarterback Phillip Rivers said his team never doubted that they could get back in the race, even when the Bronocs were sitting at 6-0.
"We didn't know it would happen like this, or this fast, that we would be sitting here with the same record, but we believed we could get ourselves back in it because we were talking about 11 more ballgames," Rivers said.
Broncos Breakdown: Denver's season, which the epitome of success through the first six weeks of action, reached a new low last weekend as the team fell 17-27 to the lowly Redskins in Washington. The loss was the Broncos third in a row and signaled that their previous two defeats were not a mere blip on the radar. Still, safety Brian Dawkins indicated that the Broncos are not in dire straights, not yet anyway.
"Crisis? No. Tough spot? Absolutely," Dawkins said. "You can't sit there and dwell on the piddly-poo of tears and worry about the last game.You have to move forward and that's what we're going to do."
Game Note: Quarterback Kyle Orton, who injured his ankle in the loss to Washington is listed as questionable and will be a game time decision. If he is unable to go, he will be replaced by Chirs Simms.
