Denver Broncos vs San Diego Chargers 2010 NFL Odds, 2010 NFL Predictions & 2010 NFL Picks: AFC West rivals Denver and San Diego will look to stay in the division race tonight as they square off at Qualcomm Stadium in Southern California. This evening's divisional showdown is scheduled to kickoff at 8:30pm ET on ESPN's Monday Night Football. 2010 NFL Odds, Predictions & Picks at online bookmaker SBGglobal.com have the Chargers listed as a -9 against the spread favorite and the Over/Under set at 50.
Denver snapped a four game skid its last time out, thumping AFC West rival Kansas City 49-29 at Invesco Field. The Broncos still find themselves in dire straights, though, as they presently own last place in the division with a 3-6 record. However, a win tonight would go a long toward getting Denver back in the race.
Head Coach Josh McDaniels is hopeful his team can build upon last Sunday's impressive effort against the Chiefs and use it as a blueprint going forward.
"I think that was really the best example of a complementary football game that we've put together all year," McDaniels said. "I think it's a good thing for our team to be reinforced with what you're really capable of doing when you put all three phases together and play well."
San Diego did its best to shatter preseason expectations, getting off to a dreadful 2-5 start, but the Chargers, which rank first in yards per game (420.2) and yards per game allowed (274.7), appear to be gearing up for the stretch run.
Norv Turner's squad has won two games in a row, beating the Titans 33-25 at home and the Texans 29-23 on the road, to improve to 4-5 overall. If San Diego can dispose of the Broncos tonight, it will remain within a game of the first place Chiefs, a team it will host on December 12th.
Turner, though, is trying to avoid any division title talk at this juncture and just get his team to focus on the task at hand.
"Everyone wants to talk about the race and the position that everyone's in," Turner said. "I really think we came to the conclusion that the best thing to do is go win a game at a time and not get caught up in the race."
The Chargers have dominated this series in San Diego of late, beating Denver in four of the last six games between the two teams at Qualcomm Stadium by an average of 25 points per game. However, the Broncos did stun the Bolts last season, scoring a 34-23 victory in McDaniels first season with the club.
NFL Picks Betting Trend: The Over is 10-3 over the last five years when the Chargers played as a home favorite coming off a road win (SD 12-1 straight up, 7-6 against the spread).
Denver Broncos +9 (-115), Over 50 (-110)
San Diego Chargers -9 (-105), Under 50 (-110)
