Tennessee Titans vs Houston Texans Monday Night Football Odds: The Tennessee Titans are in Houston tonight to take on the Texans at Reliant Stadium. The two division rivals are two of the hotter teams in the league entering this evening's contest, combining to win six of their last seven games. Kickoff in this AFC South clash is set for 8:30pm ET on ESPN's Monday Night Football. Monday Night Football Odds at JustBet.com have the Texans listed as a -4 against the spread home favorite.
Titans Breakdown: Tennesse improved to 3-6 last weekend, winning its third straight game with a 41-17 victory over the
Buffalo Bills at LP Field. The Titans offense, which had 378 total yards and converted 11-of-17 third downs, rode the arm of Vince Young and the legs of Chris Johnson to the decisive win. Young completed 17 of his 25 pass attemtps for 210 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Johnson had a huge day, rushing for 132 yards (his fourth straight 100 plus yard game) and two touchdowns on 26 carries. He also reeled in nine receptions for 100 yards to lead the team in receiving.
Johnson comes into tonight's game leading the league in rushing with a total of 1091 yards. His recent surge (632 yards over the last four games), has given the team some life, and, if nothing else, has at least made them an opponent to be reckoned with down the stretch.
"Right now we are in a situation where we just have to play the rest of our games and if we win them all, maybe something good will happen," linebacker Keith Bulluck. "We're trying to stand in anyone's way who is trying to go to the postseason, so it makes it fun for us."
Texans Breakdown: Houston enters this divisional rivalry off of its bye, which came on the heels of a heart breaking 17-20 loss at Indianapolis. The narrow defeat snapped a three game win streak for Gary Kubiak's club and dropped its overall record to 5-4. Despite the Texans self-destructive play, which was characterized by three turnovers and 13 penalties, Houston almost pulled out the win. A potential game tying field goal by Kris Brown sailed left as time expired, putting the final nail in the Texans' coffin.
Wide recevier Andre Johnson indicated that the team is no longer satisfied with close calls or narrow losses as they are now fighting for a playoff spot.
"There are no moral victories," Johnson said. "Are we getting better? I think we are. The biggest thing is just winning. You can get better all you want, but if you're not winning, it really doesn't matter."
There is little doubt that Houston needs a win tonight as the Jaguars moved past them in the AFC South standings yesterday with a third straight victory. The Texans are presently in a battle with six other teams for two Wild Card positions.
Monday Night Football Odds Betting Trend: The Texans are 1-7 straight up as a home team versus an AFC South foe with a spread between 4 and 7.5. The Over is 7-1 in those games.
