NFL Predictions Week 12

by Matt Foust on Wednesday, November 24th, 2010

NFL Predictions Week 12: Thanksgiving week signals two things for every contending NFL team: 1). the stretch run has arrived and 2). every game is a potential make or break contest. With that in mind, this weekend brings football fans a number of big-time matchups, including the Chiefs/Seahawks, Jaguars/Giants, and Packers/Falcons. First place in six separate divisions is potentially at stake in those three games, making them, arguably, the most important of week 12. NFL Predictions Week 12 at SBGglobal.com have the Chiefs (-1), Giants (-8), and Falcons (-2) listed as against the spread favorites.

Kansas City Chiefs vs Seattle Seahawks (+1):  Both teams are in a postion to control their own destiny as they presently sit NFL Predictions Week 12atop their respective divisions, but they have no room for slippage with several teams nipping at their heels. The Chiefs have been suspect on the road this season while the Seahawks, with the exception of their week nine performance against the Giants, have been solid at home. This game will, most likely, come down to turnovers as the Seahawks have relied heavily on them to win at home. Seattle is +6 in turnover margin as a host and they have three non-offensive scores at Qwest Field. Kansas City has practiced good ball security on the road, though, where they are +/-0 in turnover margin on the year. If the Seahawks are unable to force the Chiefs into any uncharacteristic giveaways, they will have a difficult time winning this game.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs New York Giants (-8): Jacksonville looked dead in the water a few weeks ago, but the Jaguars have reeled off three straight wins to take over the lead in the AFC South. New York, conversely, appeared to be an unstoppable force coming off their 41-7 week nine thrashing of the Seahawks, but the Giants have lost back to back division games since that victory. Tom Coughlin's squad now trails the Eagles by a game in the NFC East and faces a borderline must win game against the Jags. It is not a significant precedent, but the Giants followed up their only road loss this season (at Indy) with a home loss to the Tennessee Titans (29-10). Jacksonville has not fared well on the road against good teams, though, losing at San Diego and at Kansas City by a combined 47 points.
