Rodgers finished the day 32-of-45 for 344 yards and two touchdowns while running back Ryan Grant had 21 carries for 129 yards and a score.
Green Bay's defense also had a solid performance, holding the Forty Niners to 11 first downs and 284 total yards. Unfortunately for the unit, they lost starters Al Harris and Aaron Kampman to season ending knee injuries in the win.
McCarthy is hoping his team, which is 2-2 on the road where they average 29.5 points per game, can adjust to the quick turnaround of a Thursday game.
"The course of the week is always the challenge that you have to meet as far as your preparation, so when you squeeze five days into two, that's a challenge," McCarthy.
Lions Breakdown: Detroit won its second game of the season and snapped a six game losing streak last Sunday, beating the woeful Browns 38-37 at Ford Field. The Lions offense had its way with Cleveland's defense, amassing 26 first downs and 473 yards, despite having two turnovers and possessing the ball a meager 25:14. Quarterback Matthew Stafford, who separated his left shoulder in the win, completed 26-of-43 passes for 422 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions. His gutty performance was capped off by a one yard touchdown strike to rookie tight end Brandon Pettigrew as time expired.
It was a good thing that the Lions offense did show well, because their defense was horrendous. Detroit, which have given up a league worst 301 points, made the Cleveland offense look like the 2007 Patriots. The Browns finished the game with 22 first downs and 439 yards as quarterback Brady Quinn completed 21-of-33 passes for 304 yards and four touchdowns.
Game/Series Notes: Stafford and wide receiver Calvin Johnson are both expected to miss today's game. The Packers are 4-1 in their last five games at Detroit. The two teams have played on Thanksgiving three times in the last eight years with the Packers going 2-1. Detroit is just 1-7 in their last eight Thanksgiving Day games (losing by an average of 18.1 points per game), their lone win in that stretch came 2003 against the Packers (22-14).
