The two worst teams in the NFC, Atlanta Falcons and St. Louis Rams, hook up in Week 13 and would be a surprise to be even considered an NFL Pick this week. The Falcons continued their “lost” season as they got pasted by the defending Super Bowl Champs on Thanksgiving night 31-13 leaving them at 3-8 SU and losing ATS as a double digit dog. Things looked bright for the Falcons early as they took a 10-0 lead into the second quarter. But any hopes of pulling off a huge upset were quickly wiped out by Manning as he threw three touchdown passes in the second quarter. Joey Harrington, starting again because Byron Leftwich was sidelined with a tailbone injury was hit usual lousy self completing just 14 of 30 passes for an anemic 155 yards with two interceptions. The only bright spot for the Falcons was the fact that RB Warrick Dunn became the 22nd rusher in NFL history to reach 10,000 yards. He finished the game with 70 yards rushing on 17 carries. After winning two in a row, the St. Louis Rams showed why the are 2-9 SU this season as backup QB Gus Frerotte fumbled the snap on fourth-and-goal from the Seattle 1 with 27 seconds allowing the Seattle Seahawks to hold on for a 24-19 victory. After scoring 19 points in the first half St. Louis was held scoreless the whole second half. Frerotte who has to take over for starter Marc Bulger , out with a concussion, was 20-of-32 for 161 yards and one interception. St. Louis running back Steven Jackson carried the ball 23 times for a total of 90 yards.
It is unusual to see a 2-9 team favored but you have one here with St. Louis. But it might turn out to be a good omen since the team favored in this series is 10-1 SU & 9-2 ATS in the L11 meetings. But, before jumping on that fact consider that the Rams are 5-15 ATS in their last 20 home games when listed as a favorite. The fact that Atlanta is coming off of a Thanksgiving Day loss could be the clincher as road dogs after a Thursday loss are 12-4 ATS.
This game is one that certainly is not going to generate much interest but could present a good opportunity for profits.
