After starting the season showing some major improvements and possibly make a playoff run in Week 13 the Houston Texans look to get back on track and be this weeks NFL Pick when they visit the Tennessee Titans. After winning four of their first six games of the season the Texans have now lost four of their last six after last weeks 27-17 loss to the Browns dropping them to 5-6 SU and in danger of moving out of the playoff picture. The Texans didn’t have much luck versus a Cleveland defense who ranks a league-worst and was missing two injured starters. Houston QB Matt Schaub completed 22 of 36 passes for 256 yards and two TDs. But he had two interceptions and a number of other passes batted down by a Browns' suspect secondary. It didn’t help the Houston cause that the Browns dominated time of possession in the second half, holding the ball for 20:56 to Houston's 9:04 as they gave up 148 yards on the ground. If you’re looking for Houston to win this one Sportsbook.com will be giving you points as they are listed as +3.5 point underdogs.
After Tennessee starting the season as one of the surprise teams as well the wheels have seemed to have fallen off as they have lost lost three in a row and have put it’s wild card playoff berth in jeopardy. The offense has been horrible and the defense once one of the best has lost its ability to stop anybody, giving up 28, 34 and 35 points in their three game losing streak. Last weeks 35-6 pasting by the Bengals left the Titans at 6-5 SU overall. Tennessee QB Vince Young finished the day on19-of-31 passing for 246 yards with an interception. Although not that disastrous statistically, it was the fact that he couldn’t get them into the end zone that really hurt. Tennessee had to settle for a pair of field goals in the first half, when it reached the 10-yard line three times. Young also lost a fumble on a blind-side hit ending another scoring drive.
The Houston Texans could be just what the doctor ordered for the Titans as they have won the last five meetings SU and are 4-1 ATS mark. But coming into this one as a favorite could be a problem as the favorite is 1-7 ATS in the L8 games of this series and are just 9-22 ATS as a home favorite of 3.5-7 points under head coach Jeff Fisher. Houston, comes into this one a perfect 6-0 ATS in the second of back-to-back road games.
This one is a big game for both clubs this Sunday with playoff implications. Can Houston spoil Tennessee’s run for a playoff spot?
Michael Alexander is looking at this game as it could be one of his top GUARANTEED selections at Alexandersports.
