The New York Giants, who are in charge of their own destiny, look to get back on track in Week 13 versus the Chicago Bears after a humiliating NFL Picks loss last week to the Minnesota Vikings. Last season the Giants collapsed toward the end of the season but are hoping it won’t happen this season although they have lost two of their last three after last weeks loss that put them at 7-4 SU. They hold the top spot in the Wild Card race but are a 3 games in back of the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East while Dallas also holds the tie breaker. Eli Manning had a horrible day versus the Vikings last week as he threw four interceptions, three of which were run back for touchdowns. Overall on the day Manning was 21 of 49 for 245 yards. RB Rueben Droughns was held in check by the Vikings defense as he ran for only 46 yards. The Giants defense didn’t play all that bad giving up a total of 251 yards of offense. Betonline.com has the Giants listed as a -1.5 point favorite.
By scoring 14 points in the last quarter the Chicago Bears kept their dismal playoff hopes alive with a 37-34 victory over the Denver Broncos last week. The biggest spark for the Bears was Devin Hester who returned a kick off and punt for touchdowns. Chicago QB Rex Grossman was his usual shaky self in his second start since returning to the lineup as he went 17-of-33 with 193 yards. He also had a touchdown and an interception in his first appearance at Soldier Field since his horrible game against Dallas in the third game that led to his benching. With an already questionable running attack the Bears too an additional hit as RB Cendric Benson went down with an ankle injury after rushing for 47 yards.
The future of the Chicago Bears looks to rest on the shoulders of Devin Hester and that might not be a bad thing in this game as Chicago is 9-1 AT in home games against kickoff teams who allow greater than 24 yards per kickoff return. But, don’t count out the Giants as they are 9-2 ATS in road games versus the NFC. The underdog has owned this series as they are 5-1 SU & 5-0-1 ATS in L6 meetings.
A win this week at home would put the Bears only 1 game in back of the Giants and would put them right back in the playoff hunt.
