San Francisco 49ers vs Arizona Cardinals 2010 NFL Picks, 2010 NFL Odds & 2010 NFL Predictions: It is not often that a week 12 game between two 3-7 squads has any relevance, but tonight's meeting between the Niners and Cardinals actually means something in the NFC West race. The winner of this evening's Monday Night Football clash, which is scheduled to kickoff at 8:30pm ET at the University of Phoneix Stadium, will remain a division title player in the NFL's most uninspiring sub-group. 2010 NFL Picks, Odds & Predictions at online bookmaker BetUS.com have San Francisco listed as a -2 against the spread road favorite in the the epic battle; the game total is set at 41.5.
San Francisco and Arizona came into the season as the two favorites to win the NFC West. Instead, the two squads have
watched the upstart Rams and Seahawks hover toward the top of the division standings for most of the year. That remains the case tonight as St. Louis, which owns the top spot in the West with a 5-6 record, sits just above Seattle (5-6) in the NFC Western hierarchy.
The Forty Niners have taken a different tack to their 3-7 tally than the Cardinals, beginning the season with a five game losing streak while Arizona jumped out to a 3-2 start. San Francisco has clearly been the better team of late, though, despite last week's 21-0 home loss to the Buccaneers, as it is Ken Whisenhunt's squad that owns a five game skid coming into tonight's game.
The Cardinals quarterbacking woes have contributed greatly to the team's lack of success this season and particularly during its current losing streak. Derek Anderson has manned the position in each of the Cardinals last five games and his numbers are less than stellar to say the least. The Oregon State product has completed just 55.4 percent of his passes in Arizona's last five outings, while throwing four touchdowns and three interceptions for a 77.6 passer rating.
The Niners, prior to last week's loss, had won two games in a row with former Heisman winner Troy Smith under center. Smith performed exceptional in those two outings, throwing for 552 yards and two touchdowns (116 passer rating). He looked horrific against the Bucs, though, completing just 51.6 percent of his passes for 148 yards and an interception.
San Francisco has failed to win a road game this season, going 0-4 away from Candlestick Park, while the Cardinals have gone 2-2 in Glendale. That trend does not bode well for the Niners; however, they have played well against Arizona in recent seasons, going 4-2 straight up in their last six games against the Cardinals while covering the spread in four of the last five.
NFL Picks Betting Trend: The Cardinals are 5-1 against the spread and 4-2 straight up over the last five years playing as a home dog coming off a road loss.
