NFL Picks and Early Betting Trends NFL Week 13

NFL Picks and Early Betting Trends for NFL Week 13Once again it appears as if the most popular game to bet on this weekend at Sportsbook.com will be the Patriots game.  Even though they disappointed their loyal bettors last week by falling short of covering by over 20 points, early bettors continue to show faith in the Patriots high scoring attack.  This game has all the ingredients to be one of the heaviest bet games of the year.  At 9-2 ATS, the Patriots are a money making machine to their loyal bettors.  The fact that they are on the road probably won’t deter bettors too much considering they are 5-1 ATS this season and 18-7 ATS away from home since 2005.  Their victim errrrrrr opponent for Week 13 is the disappointing Ravens.  Coming off an outstanding year, the Ravens are just 4-7 and have lost five straight.  More importantly to the wagering community, the Ravens are a despicable 1-10 ATS including 0-8 against conference opponents.  Looking deeper into the game, it is hard to blame the 76% of early bettors pounding the Pats considering they score 23.7 more points per contest than their opponents.  Finally, Baltimore’s usually dominant defense has struggled recently, surrendering 31 points and over 242 yards through the air over the last 4 games.

“Playing on Monday night, it looks like the outcome of the Patriots game could once again make or break our weekend,” stated Sportsbook.com spokesman Dave Staley.  “The bettors don’t seem discouraged by the Pats’ close call last weekend.  As a matter of fact there appears to be the belief that Belichick will once again ‘run it up’ after their Week 12 scare.”

Two Sunday games stand out as far as volume of early bets.  Not only is the San Diego at Kansas City getting tons of action, it is extremely lopsided in nature.  About 96% of the early bettors are backing the inconsistent Chargers even though they are laying 5.5 points on the road.

“The bettors don’t seem a bit concerned with the fact that the Chargers are just 2-7-1 ATS in their last 10 games against KC,” commented Staley.

The second Sunday game that is garnering plenty of attention is the Denver Broncos at Oakland Raiders match-up. 94% of the early action is siding with another inconsistent team in the Broncos.  Obviously the early bettors are aware that since 2005, Oakland is 5-16 ATS at home and 0-10 ATS during the month of December.
