The Redskins won the weekend before last with a surprise 19-16 overtime victory in Tennessee, but that win marked their 
only departure from the wayward course they charted at the end of October. With Sunday's 17-13 loss at home to the Vikings, Washington fell for the third time in the last four weeks, bringing its record to 5-6.
Mike Shanahan's squad faces a must win scenario on Sunday if it is to keep its already slim postseason hopes afloat. The Redskins, which rank 21st in yards per game and 32nd in yards per game allowed, are two games back of both the Eagles and Giants in the NFC East and they trail New York, New Orleans, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card.
New York snapped a two game skid last weekend with a 24-20 home victory over the Jaguars. The Giants, which were missing five starters on offense, rallied late after Eli Manning threw fourth quarter touchdown passes of 26 and 32 yards (Mario Manningham, Kevin Boss).
The win, along with Philly's loss at Chicago, likely preserved New York's division title hopes as they are now tied with the Eagles, which they will host on December 19th, for first in the NFC East at 7-4.
The Redskins have not fared well in the Big Apple of late, losing five of their last six road games against the Giants. Washington has been competitive in the last three, though, winning 22-10 in 2007 while losing 16-7 in 2008 and 23-17 last year.
