When this NFL Picks matchup was listed last season it seemed that a Monday Night Week 14 clash between the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons was a prime game. Unfortunately, the developments of Michael Vick in jail and the Saints struggling it has turned into a how cares game. After losing their first four and then winning their next four it seemed like the Saints were back in the hunt for post season. Instead they turned about and have lost 3 of their last 4 go sit at 5-7 SU overall. Last Sunday’s loss to the Bucs all but sealed their fate. Last week the Saints gained a season low 246 yards while allowing a season high 466 yards. Running back Reggie Bush didn’t help matters either as he gained only 64 yards on 13 carries then lost the game for the Saints when he fumbled the ball on a trick play late that was recovered by the Buccaneers and led to the winning score with just 14 seconds left. QB didn’t have an outstanding day but did complete 17 of 23 passes for 179 yards and two touchdowns. SBGglobal.com has installed New Orleans as a -4 point favorite.
The Falcons who after last season was looking forward to a good season this year got that all taken away from the in training camp when it was found that Michael Vick would not be around. As a result the Falcons have struggled all season long and sit at only 3-9 SU. They come into this game having lost three straight for the third time this year. Obviously without Vick the QB position has been a real problem. Last week Redman replaced Harrington after he threw an interception late in the third quarter. Redman was respectable as he went 16-of-24 for 172 yards and two touchdowns before throwing an interception late in the game. The Falcons running game showed some promise last week as well as the combination of Dunn and Norwood rushed for 111 yards on 18 carries.
For Falcons backers there won’t be much solace in the fact that the favorite is 9-1 SU & 7-3 ATS in L10 games of this series in Atlanta. But there are contradicting trends in this one as the Saints are 2-9 in their L11 as favorite of 3.5-9.5 points while Atlanta is 4-13 ATS as a home dog of 3.5-9.5 points.
The Saints however still have a shot at the wild card as they're one game behind Detroit, Minnesota and Arizona for the last spot.
Michael Alexander is coming off a huge Sunday last week and is locked and loaded with more GUARANTEED selections at Alexandersports.
