The Miami Dolphins chances to win a game in Week14 seem to dim with each passing week of NFL Picks and don’t get much better this week when they travel north into the snow to take on the Buffalo Bills. In what many believed, including me, to be their final chance at a winning season last week against the hapless Jets was anything but as they got blown out 40-13 leaving them at 0-12 SU on the year. The Dolphins did have a glimmer of hope early in the game however as they took a 13-10 lead in the second quarter when Michael Lehan's returned a fumble for 43 yards and a touchdown, unfortunately didn't score again. In the third quarter, QB John Beck fumbled three times in a stretch of five Miami plays. He finished the day 23 of 39 for 177 yards and no touchdowns. In addition to the three fumbles he also had three interceptions. The absence of a running game didn’t help either as they had a total of only 37 yards on the ground. Last week the Dolphins were favored but this week things get back to normal as Sportsbook.com as they listed as a -7 point underdog.
In a very emotional day in which the Washington Redskins honored their fallen teammate, the Buffalo Bills were able to get good performances from rookie QB Trent Edwards and third-string running back Fred Jackson to help break a two game losing streak that kept their AFC playoff hopes alive at 6-6 SU. Edwards passed for 257 yards while Jackson chipped in with 82 rushing yards. Even with those performance the Bills weren’t able to get the ball in the end zone all day long settling for 5 field goals and a safety. The last one coming on a blunder by Washington head coach Joe Gibbs who called and second timeout to freeze the kicker. Unfortunately that is against the rules and resulted in a 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct 15 yard penalty, moving it close enough for an easier 36 yard field goal by Bills kicker Lindell.
The Bills have been a profit maker at home this season going 3-3 SU but 5-1 ATS and are 9-2 ATS in their L11 at home overall. Meanwhile Miami is 2-13 ATS versus divisional opponents and just 4-14 ATS on the road revenging a home loss to an opponent. Buffalo is 25-12 ATS vs. bad defensive teams yielding at least 24 points per game and 7-3 SU & ATS in its L10 hosting the Dolphins. Looks like Miami will be looking at 0-13 after this week, but stranger things have happened.
