NFL Point Spreads Week 14: The AFC West has turned into a two-team race to the finish, as the Denver Broncos moved to first place in the standings, percentage points ahead of the Oakland Raiders. If the playoffs started today, the Raiders would actually miss the playoffs and the Broncos would win the division by virtue of having a better record against AFC West teams.
This week, these intradivision contenders will play very important games, as the Tim Tebow could easily extend its division lead and win streak. Winners of six consecutive ballgames, the NFL Point Spreads favorite (7-5) Denver Broncos [-3.5] welcome the Jay Cutler-less (7-5) Chicago Bears [+3.5] to Sports Authority Field at Mile High. The Broncos are coming off Tebow’s best passing performance, as Denver defeated Minnesota 35-32.
"We saw him take big strides yesterday," John Elway said of Tebow’s performance (10/15, 68% completions for 202 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INTs) against the Vikings. "He read out the two long passes… and I think that, offensively, especially the second half, we came out and did a little play-action, which really helped us. The receivers did a heck of a job getting open, and Tim was able to get them the ball."
For the (7-5) Oakland Raiders [+11], they can just go ahead and chalk up another “L” in their right column, as they’ll be going up against the defending champions, the undefeated Green Bay Packers [-11] this week in Lambeau. The Raiders are coming off a 34-14 loss to the Dolphins and will play the Lions next week.
